Fixed wire testing, emergency lighting certification and thermal imaging surveys for Walsall's factories, warehouses, offices, schools and landlords. Testing is planned around your working day, with evening, overnight and weekend appointments.
Walsall made its name in leather and saddlery, Willenhall in locks and keys, and Darlaston in nuts, bolts and fastenings. That manufacturing tradition carries on today in industrial estates across Darlaston, Willenhall and Aldridge, close to M6 junctions 9 and 10, with distribution sites, trade counters, offices and a busy town centre alongside.
Many Walsall premises are older industrial buildings that have been extended and rewired over the years. Regular EICR testing shows whether that installation is still safe. Emergency lighting certification keeps escape routes compliant, and thermal imaging finds overheating connections on busy production equipment.
We test commercial and rented properties right across the borough:
EICR testing means switching circuits off, so we plan when that happens with you. One circuit at a time, with critical plant and equipment kept running wherever possible.
From a trade unit in Darlaston to a multi-site manufacturer.
Fabrication, forging, finishing and engineering works with heavy three-phase plant, tested at weekends or during shutdowns.
Distribution sites, builders' merchants and trade counters near the M6, tested overnight or before opening.
Offices and managed business centres, tested out of hours with IT and access control kept running.
Shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants across Walsall, Bloxwich and Aldridge, tested outside opening hours.
Schools, nurseries, care homes, surgeries and community buildings, tested in holidays or quiet periods.
Rented homes, HMOs and flats above shops across the borough, with access arranged for you.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a complete inspection and test of the fixed wiring in your building, from the main switchgear to every final circuit. It confirms whether your installation is safe to keep using, and gives you the evidence insurers, landlords and the HSE expect under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
Problems found on test? As part of Able Electric, our electricians can carry out the repairs. Electrical installations & repairs since 2009.
Any C1, C2 or FI means an "Unsatisfactory" report. We explain each one and quote to put it right.
Maximum recommended intervals based on IET Guidance Note 3. Your insurer, or the condition and use of the installation, may call for shorter intervals.
If the lights go out in a factory or warehouse, people need a clearly lit route past machinery, racking and stock to the nearest safe exit. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must make sure emergency lighting is maintained and tested, and BS 5266-1 sets out how.
Failed fittings or batteries? We replace and retest them, and can upgrade old fittings to LED. Repairs carried out by Able Electric.
Short functional test. A brief check that each fitting switches to battery. Usually done in-house; we can show your staff how.
Full rated-duration test. Usually 3 hours on battery. Carried out and certified by us.
Log book kept up to date. Fire officers and insurers will ask to see it.
A thermal camera shows heat the eye can't see. We scan your switchgear, distribution boards, busbars and machinery connections while they run under full production load, with no shutdown and no lost output, and find faults before they cause a breakdown or a fire.
Hotspots found? Our electricians can fix the fault and rescan to confirm. Find out more about Able Electric.

EICR Testing is part of Able Electric, who have been carrying out electrical installations and repairs across the Midlands since 2009. When your EICR, emergency lighting test or thermal survey finds a problem, the same NICEIC-approved team can fix it. There's no second contractor to find and nobody to re-brief.
What factory owners, facilities managers, businesses and landlords across Walsall ask us before booking.
Yes. We cover the whole borough, including the town centre, Darlaston, Willenhall, Bloxwich, Aldridge, Brownhills, Pelsall, Rushall, Streetly and Walsall Wood. We're NICEIC Approved and SafeContractor Accredited.
Yes. For factories we test at weekends, between shifts or during planned shutdowns. We isolate circuits one at a time to an agreed plan, keeping furnaces, compressors, extraction or other critical plant running wherever it's safe to do so.
Not at all. Many Walsall industrial buildings have wiring from several decades, with machinery added over time. An EICR shows what's safe, what needs attention and what should be upgraded, and we explain the findings in plain English with a clear remedial quote.
For industrial premises the maximum recommended interval is three years. Offices, shops and warehouses are usually every five years. Dusty, damp or high-vibration environments may need more frequent testing, and your insurer may set its own interval.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to keep electrical systems safe. An EICR is the recognised way to show you've done that, and most insurers expect a current, satisfactory report. For private landlords, a five-yearly EICR is a specific legal requirement.
Yes. Our annual emergency lighting test runs every luminaire and exit sign on battery for its full rated duration, usually three hours, in line with BS 5266-1. Anything that fails is listed, and can be repaired or replaced, with LED upgrades available. Your certificate and log book are updated for your fire risk assessment.
Not at all. We survey during normal operation, because faults only show up as heat when current is flowing. The scan covers main switchgear, distribution boards, busbars and plant connections. The report ranks each hotspot by urgency, so you can plan repairs before anything fails.
Yes. Many clients book all three together: fewer visits, one point of contact and a combined programme of any remedial work. We plan the thermal survey for normal working hours and the isolation work for evenings or weekends.
Yes. Whether you look after one building or a regional estate, we can programme testing across every site, issue RAMS in advance, and supply reports and remedial quotes in a consistent format that's easy to approve and track.
Private landlords in England must have rented homes inspected and tested at least every five years, give tenants a copy of the report within 28 days, and give it to new tenants before they move in. Walsall Council can ask for a copy, which must be supplied within 7 days. Any remedial work must be completed within 28 days. We test single lets, HMOs and portfolios across Walsall, and can arrange access with tenants or your agent.
C1 dangers are dealt with on the day. For everything else we provide an itemised quote, so you can see exactly what's needed for a satisfactory result. EICR Testing is part of Able Electric, electrical installation and repair specialists since 2009, so there's no need to find a second contractor.
